The days of benign and enlightened British rule are well and truly over in Hong Kong.  The current regime is no more than Beijing’s puppets, employing huge resources to crack down on protesters who merely want to defend their rights as citizens of Hong Kong. The authorities have now decided that water cannons could be used in future protests, claiming that they are relatively harmless and a good alternative to guns.  The fact is, water cannons can be lethal weapons and now Hongkongers are paying for something that could eventually kill them.
