Pro-China elements who hadbeen caught attacking TV reporters in the streets of Hong Kong last year wereallowed to obscure their faces with masks and shower caps during a policeidentification parade.  This revelationcame after the announcement by the police last week that they did not haveenough evidence to prosecute the alleged offenders, despite ample video footagefrom various media outlets and numerous eye witnesses.  Needless to say, the victims were unable toidentify their assailants in the parade. This is yet another blatant attempt by the Hong Kong authorities toprotect China’s foot soldiers acting in the interests of their Beijing masters.

A similar scandal occurredlast month when seven policemen accused of assaulting a handcuffed activistrefused to co-operate in an identification parade.  The then-police commissioner Andy Tsang saidthe accused policemen had every right not to co-operate.
